Foot moisturizing : Sea Salt + Apple cider vinegar foot soak
The first foot soak we suggest is pretty simple : take a basin and fill it up with warm water, add a handful of sea salt and 1 to 2 cups of ACV (Apple Cider Vinegar). Soak your feet for about 15/20 minute, if you wish, you can add one more step and use a pumice stone to exfoliate the hard skin (heel zone particularly) or you can rinse your feet with clear warm water.
Foot moisturizing : Salt + Olive oil mixture
This mix has the benefits to fulfill a much welcome double action : Foot moisturizing and exfoliation. In a medium bowl pour 2 spoons of salt and 2 spoons of olive oil (you can use argan oil as well), mix and then massage your feet gently with this preparation insisting on the though zones. Rinse with clear water
Foot moisturizing : Epsom salt + Baking soda + Essential oils
Fill up a basin with warm water, add 1 cup of Epsom salt to the water and stir. Add one small spoon of baking soda (optional). The essential oils are really the “plus” and the funny part to this soak as there’s really a huge variety of essential oils to be used! To relieve dryness, usually, the following are recommended : Ylang Ylang, Jasmine, Rose, Chamomile, Lavender. Sweet Almond Oil/ Avocado oil/Jojoba oil are also amazing moisturizing oils that can be applied directly on the skin.
Foot moisturizing : Coconut oil + Shea butter
Shea butter comes from the nuts of African Shea trees: it’s a premium skin moisturizer full of vitamin A., E and D. As its name indicates, it has a butter-like consistency and should not be placed in a warn environment (it’s going to melt). Coconut oil has well-known nourishing and softening properties. The combination would be : 2 part Shea butter/1 part coconut oil.
You will have a yummy balm that you can use for the whole body. Some suggest to make a big quantity and save it already prepared but if you are not familiar with the sterilization techniques of the containers, we can suggest to simply do this mix each time you want to apply to it.
Foot moisturizing : Honey + Lemon + Olive oil feet mask
We already spoke about this mixture in another article but it’s so good that it can be featured twice : 1 spoon olive oil, 1 spoon honey and 1 spoon lemon juice. Rub and gently massage your feet in this homemade mix, then apply a bandage, cellophane or simply clean socks and let it rest for about 1h. Rinse with clear water.
Foot moisturizing : Moisturizing socks
The industry answer to the above homemade mask. If you are feeling a bit low in energy and don’t want to cook prepare your own foot moisturizing mask you can opt for moisturizing socks. You will find them easily in most of retail stores and online. There are mainly two type of moisturizing socks : the ones that come with the gel inside and the ones that come with the lotion/balm apart. In the latter category, we can name The Body Shop and EcoTools that both offer moisture socks made out of natural fabrics : you can use them overnight after applying generously a rich balm/cream (Shea butter & coconut oil ?). In the other category we have NatraCure that offers gel socks for the whole foot or with a specific action on the toes or the heels. Looking a little bit to what we can find as “beauty” socks, we found PureDerm that proposes exfoliating socks and other Aloe Vera & Shea Butter socks (Aloe as a plant has plenty of benefits)
Foot moisturizing : Moisturizing creams
The market is absolutely full of all type of foot moisturizing creams , you will find one for any budget you have, any smell/texture you like. Not to name all of them, three stand out : Eucerin, Neutrogena, O’Keeffe’s . Their formulas are rich and highly concentrated in moisturizing agents and will help you achieve the foot moisturizing you need.
